FAQs
Is Scratch Made like Blue Apron?
Our models are similar in that we deliver food to your home. Outside of that we’re pretty different. Our dishes arrive prepared and require only a quick reheat; on the stovetop, in the oven or in the microwave. You won’t have to dice, sautee or blend anything.
Most notably (for us, anyway), the origin and quality of our raw ingredients is the biggest differentiator. We buy from farms near where we live because that’s important to us. It’s not clear where companies like Blue Apron get their food from. Also, we’re a Baltimore company: We live and the city and want to feed our neighbors.
Finally, our dishes arrive in compostable containers to cut back on our contribution to the landfill.
How does delivery work?
Your order will be delivered the following Tuesday or Wednesday to the billing address provided, within the your selected time window. If you prefer that we bring your food to a different location, you have the opportunity to leave a note during checkout. Alternatively, you can also shoot us an email anytime at hello@orderscratchmade.com and we'll confirm the change.
Take note of the date above the menu on the homepage -- you can expect your order to arrive on that date, i.e., if you’re ordering for the Week of July 15th, your order will arrive on Tuesday, July 15th if you're in the Baltimore area or Wednesday, July 16th if you're in D.C.
On Tuesdays we deliver to Baltimore City and to the zip codes, 21093, 21252, 21208, 21286, 21239, 21204, 21234, and 21153 in Baltimore County. We've also begun delivery to select Washington D.C. neighborhoods on Wednesdays to the following zip codes; 20540, 20001, 20003, 21239, 20543, 20376, 20374, 20515, 20303, 20814, 20002, 20015, 20016, 20010, 20008 and 20388.
Can dishes be modified for folks with dietary restrictions?
Shoot us an email and fill us in on the specific situation. We’ll let you know if we’re able to accommodate for your needs.
What can we expect regarding portion sizes?
Because our menu changes every week, we don’t have a standard portion size for things like meat, vegetables and starches. Instead, we use our best judgement when it comes to portioning -- much like a restaurant kitchen does.
As a general rule for meat, we aim for 4 to 6 oz. per dish per person.
Is there a subscription?
We do not currently offer a subscription. You’re able to order week-to-week, whenever it fits your schedule.
When is the order deadline?
Order by Saturday at midnight for a delivery the following Tuesday and Wednesday.
